Job summary

Taylor Corporation, based in North Mankato, MN, is seeking an Industrial Engineer to join the Corporate Process Improvement Engineering team. You will optimize production processes across Taylor companies using Lean Six Sigma and DMAIC methodologies to generate measurable ROI.

Responsibilities include leading improvement initiatives, developing new concepts, and implementing standard operating procedures. Travel up to ~30% within Minnesota and the US is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing with continuous improvement.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Experience delivering executive-level presentations (Teams and in person).
  • Track record of delivering projects with measurable ROI or financial impact.
  • Self-directed with proactive opportunity identification.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong statistical knowledge for manufacturing/quality control.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%. Travel mainly within Minnesota and the US.

Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement projects across the enterprise using Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Act as project lead from start to finish following DMAIC method.
  • Concept development from design research to feasibility studies.
  • Map current state and justify future state ROI.
  • Apply tools like VSM, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, 5S, DOE, SPC, and more.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures.

Your Opportunity:

Taylor Corporation is seeking an Industrial Engineer to work in the Corporate Process Improvement Engineering team in North Mankato, MN! This opportunity provides the challenge of working directly with various Taylor companies in optimizing production processes utilizing Lean and Six Sigma tools.

Your Responsibilities:

Effectively participate in a collaborative team atmosphere working with production leaders, peers, and stakeholders across the enterprise on continuous improvement projects such as improving efficiency, throughput, cost savings, and quality resulting in ROI through the utilization of Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies.

With emphasis toward working the DMAIC approach, function as the continuous improvement project lead on these initiatives from start to finish.

Develop new concepts from the initial design research and development into feasibility studies to determine if concepts can function as intended.

Utilize the Lean Six Sigma approach to map out the current state situation and work to justify an effective future state plan resulting in ROI. These efforts will require fundamental working knowledge in tools such as VSM, From-to-Charts, Relationship Charts, Spaghetti diagrams, Cost Analysis, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, 5 whys, 5s, 8 deadly wastes of manufacturing, and more.

Utilize statistical and quality tools as applicable such as: FMEA/PFMA, Gage R&R, Control Charts, SPC, Cpk, DOE, Pareto Charts, Histograms, Regression Analysis, fishbone cause and effect diagrams (5 M’s).

Participate in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures.

You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited programs in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience working in manufacturing industry with some experience working on continuous improvement initiatives with knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Experience delivering executive-level presentations, both virtually (Teams) and in person
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects with measurable ROI or financial impact
  • Highly self-directed, with a "hunter" mindset for identifying high-impact opportunities
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Strong statistical knowledge – especially as it applies to a manufacturing industry and quality control
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in addition to exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel – approximately up to 30%. Travel requirements are primarily local within the Mankato area as well as other facilities within Minnesota and the US
We Would Also Prefer:
  • Knowledge of Printing and Fulfillment industry experience
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and owning project outcomes

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The range listed is just onecomponentof Taylor Corporation’s total compensation and benefits package for employees.
