Job summary

Therma-Stor in Madison, WI seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to drive productivity and safety by applying lean standards to light assembly. You will coordinate with Engineering and Supply Chain to balance lines and standardize work instructions.

The role requires 1–3 years of Lean in manufacturing, a BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, and strong communication. You will use CRM/JDE for routings and support ergonomic improvements and component tracking initiatives.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of Lean experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• Working knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across all levels.
• Basic database programming (Access, SQL) is required.
• Ability to lift, bend, inspect visually, and maintain safe work habits.
• Experience with brazing/welding and HVAC knowledge is a plus.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is preferred.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:Working under the general direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this position primarily works within Operations to improve productivity, efficiency and safety through the implementation of industry best standards for light assembly. Also works with other departments, including but not limited to Engineering and Supply Chain, to reach similar goals.Responsibilities:Develop production line balancing for varying staff levels for serial and cellular layouts in regard to new and existing productsDevelop work instructions based on the line-balancing plan.Perform regular capacity analysis based on available forecast informationUse the DMAIC process/tools to identify and justify improvement projectsImprove part presentation through flow racking, parts trays, ergonomic improvements, etc.Maintain current routings in CRM/JDE and use both systems to determine what lines/products benefit the most from line balancing and improved part presentationContinue the implementation of the component tracking system including quality auditing and QRM DAQIdentify opportunities and develop solutions for improvements to ergonomicsOther functions as required and assigned by managementQualifications:1-3 years of proven experience with Lean in a manufacturing environmentBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field requiredKnowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipmentMust be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervisionAbility to communicate and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels, both independently and in a team environment, with strong engagement with line operatorsBasic database programming knowledge and utilization required (Access, SQL, etc.)Ability to lift, bend, perform visual inspections, and demonstrate strong manual dexterity requiredStrong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsBasic knowledge of hand and power tools requiredExperience with brazing/welding operations preferredBasic HVAC knowledge preferredProficiency with Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office applications required; CRM experience preferredSix Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferredCandidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
