Overview
The Industrial Engineer will work on large-scale manufacturing projects, including GW-level advanced manufacturing or renewable energy facilities. The engineer will work closely with engineers on tasks such as production line planning, capacity analysis, and process optimization.
Responsibilities
- Manufacturing System & Line Planning
- Lead and support production line planning for solar cell manufacturing
- Develop and optimize line layout, material flow, and space utilization
- Perform takt time analysis, cycle time analysis, and capacity modeling
- Define standard production capacity (UPH, shift capacity, line balance)
- Support equipment placement, footprint definition, and expansion planning
- Data Analysis & Process Optimization
- Analyze manufacturing data, including cycle time, UPH, OEE, yield, and bottleneck
- Conduct statistical and quantitative analysis to identify improvement opportunities
- Support cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and productivity enhancement initiatives
- Participate in continuous improvement projects (Lean, line balancing, waste reduction)
- Cross‑Functional & Project Coordination
- Work closely with process, equipment, facilities, and production teams
- Coordinate with Asian engineering teams and US site teams to align on design assumptions and implementation
- Support on-site engineering activities, follow up on action items, and track deliverables
- Provide IE input during equipment move‑in, line ramp‑up, and production launch phase
- Project management and coordination of different teams (Chinese team and US team) to communicate design proposals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support on-site engineering activities and follow up on action items
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a related engineering field
- 2+ years of industrial engineering experience in manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing system design and line layout planning
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D layout and equipment placement)
- Strong Excel skills for data analysis (capacity models, calculations, tracking)
- Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal)
Preferred
- Experience in photovoltaic, semiconductor, electronics, or high‑volume manufacturing
- Familiarity with GW‑level or large‑scale factory planning and ramp‑up
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, line balancing, or capacity optimization
- Experience working with cross‑regional or international engineering teams
