Job summary

Honda is seeking an Industrial Engineer to provide technical support for the Production Engineering Group, focusing on manufacturing methods, design inputs, and quality control. You will develop time standards, analyze capacity, and optimize line efficiency in aerospace hardware contexts.

The role requires a B.S. in Industrial Engineering with at least 3 years of experience, strong communication, and proficiency with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering and at least 3 years of experience.
  • Understanding of aircraft manufacturing and industrial engineering.
  • Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with SAP or TeamCenter a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement production processes in assigned A/C area.
  • Provide time studies, capacity analysis, line balancing, work sampling, and data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain engineered time standards.
  • Apply statistical methods to determine manufacturing processes, labor requirements, and production standards.
  • Schedule and sequence job plans to support workflow.
  • Support detailed parts manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and prioritize work to meet deadlines.

Job Purpose

The Industrial Engineer position provides technical support for the Production Engineering Group working in areas such as manufacturing, design, development, and testing. This position develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling, ergonomics, and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards.

Key Accountabilities
  • Take ownership of all production process definition and implementation of assigned A/C area(s)
  • Provides time studies, capacity analysis (manpower, tooling, capital, and facilities), line balancing, and crew loading, work sampling, and PC computer data analysis
  • Develops and maintains engineered time standards.
  • Applies statistical methods and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing assembly processes, labor requirements, and production standards.
  • Schedules and sequences job plans (with ME approval) to support effective work flow.
  • Supports work specific to detail parts manufacturing and assembly operations of composite and metallic aerospace hardware within a manufacturing environment.
  • Plans, schedules, and prioritizes work to meet established deadlines.
Qualifications, Experience, And Skills
  • B.S.I.E. (Industrial Engineering, Industrial Engineering Technology
  • 3 years fo experience
  • Understanding of aircraft manufacturing and industrial engineering.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Technology with proven success in implementation.
  • Strategic thinker
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to build strong peer to peer cross functional relationships.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project Management, and Lotus Notes.)
  • Strong skills in project management.
  • Familiar with SAP operating system a plus.
  • Familiar with TeamCenter a plus.
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Experience in MOST / Six Sigma preferred
Working Conditions
  • Incumbents may be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  • Incumbents may be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
  • Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
  • Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
  • Effectively communicate in Business English language.
  • Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
  • Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
