Job summary

True North Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to drive continuous improvement in a manufacturing setting in Cresco, IA. You will lead lean initiatives, optimize product flow, and mentor operators and technicians to elevate performance.

You will partner with the Operations Manager and Site Leadership to deliver capacity planning tools, time standards, and cost-saving projects while ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and implement site-wide lean activities to eliminate waste and improve productivity.
• Foster development of facility leads, supervisors, and managers.
• Standardize and optimize manufacturing processes, sequences, layouts, and product flow.
• Lead continuous improvement across manufacturing and office operations.
• Develop detailed project plans and ensure timely completion with savings goals.
• Design equipment layouts, workflows, and safety precautions for max utilization.
• Own capital expenditures projects including design, vendor selection, procurement, and implementation.
• Collaborate with Operations Manager to develop a CI roadmap.
• Develop capacity modeling, production planning tools, and time standards.
• Provide direction to operators and technicians and support their development.
• Perform data collection, root cause analysis, and problem-solving to address issues.

Job description

Join a manufacturing team where continuous improvement, lean principles, and process optimization are central to improving productivity and operational performance. This role is ideal for an experienced Industrial Engineer who can identify issues affecting product flow, eliminate process bottlenecks, reduce works in progress, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and office functions.

In this role, you will provide leadership and direction to operators and technicians while developing their capabilities and performance. You will also help foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the facility.

Duties:

Including but not limited to:

• Lead and implement site-wide lean activities, including 5S, standard work, visual management, value stream mapping, Kaizen, and 8D, to eliminate waste and improve productivity.
• Foster the professional development of facility Leads, Supervisors, and Managers
• Lead the standardization and optimization of manufacturing processes, sequences, layouts, and product flow.
• Lead and track continuous improvement activities across all functional areas, including manufacturing and office operations.
• Develop detailed project plans, drive project performance, and ensure the timely completion of improvement projects and achievement of savings goals.
• Develop, design, and plan equipment and machine layouts, workflow, and safety precautions to maximize utilization of plant and manufacturing facilities.
• Serve as a key owner and stakeholder for equipment capital expenditures, including design, vendor selection, procurement, and implementation.
• Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Site Leadership Team to develop a continuous improvement roadmap focused on achieving best-in-class performance.
• Lead the creation and enhancement of capacity modeling, production planning tools, and time standards.
• Provide direction to operators and technicians while supporting their professional development, capabilities, and performance.
• Perform industrial engineering data collection, root cause analysis, and practical problem-solving to identify and address operational issues.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience with industrial engineering data collection, root cause analysis, and practical problem-solving.
• Demonstrated ability to apply processes and methods focused on improving throughput.
• Strong knowledge of LEAN principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to shift priorities and focus on critical tasks as needed.
• Strong ability to lead projects, manage priorities, and drive initiatives through completion.
• Ability to work collaboratively with operations and site leadership to identify opportunities and implement improvements.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of Industrial Engineering experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of management experience.
