Job description

Job Title: Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer (Facility Layout & Process Optimization)

Location: Corpus Christi, TX

Job Type: Full-Time

Experience Level: Early-Career (1-3 Years)

About the Role

We are seeking a high-energy Industrial / Manufacturing Engineer to join our team as we scale our manufacturing footprint. In this role, you will play a hands‑on part in designing, building, and optimizing the layout and production workflow for new, large-scale facilities (200,000+ sq. ft.).

You will focus directly on optimizing the end-to-end assembly process for complex integrated electrical skids and structural enclosures housing medium-voltage Ring Main Units (RMUs), transformers, low-voltage distribution gear, and auxiliary power control equipment. If you thrive on transforming blank floor space into lean, high-throughput manufacturing lines, this opportunity is built for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Layout Design: Assist in designing and executing floor layouts, line balances, and material staging areas for greenfield or major expansion production environments.
  • Process Flow Optimization: Map value streams (VSM) and implement lean manufacturing workflows to minimize waste, shorten cycle times, and remove bottlenecks in heavy electrical assembly.
  • Material Handling & Ergonomic Flow: Define logistics pathways, crane/hoist requirements, and point-of-use kitting strategies for large, heavy components (transformers, switchgear enclosures, structural steel frames).
  • Workstation & Tooling Specs: Specify and implement tooling, fixtures, staging jigs, and ergonomic workstations tailored for panel wiring, busbar & cable installation, and mechanical assembly.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop and refine standard work instructions, cycle‑time baselines, and line‑balancing documentation alongside production technician teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Quality, EHS, Sourcing, and Electrical Design Engineering to ensure manufacturability (DFM), safety compliance, and smooth ramp‑ups during early‑stage production runs.
Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of professional experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering environment (co-op and internship experience will be considered).
  • CAD & Spatial Software: Hands-on proficiency in 2D/3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or Factory Design Suite) for industrial layout modeling and floor space optimization.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Solid understanding of Lean principles, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, cellular manufacturing, and TAKT time calculations.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and root‑cause analysis skills (PFMEA, Kaizen, 8D) applied to complex physical assembly processes.

Preferred:

  • Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, heavy structural fabrication, or modular skid/container assembly.
  • Familiarity with power distribution equipment (Transformers, Switchgear, Medium Voltage RMUs, Panelboards, or Control Cabinets).
  • Knowledge of EHS standards, heavy material handling safety, and overhead crane logistics for assemblies weighing 10,000+ lbs.
What We Offer
  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary + performance bonus.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage; 401(k) matching program.
  • Professional Growth: Direct exposure to large-scale greenfield manufacturing projects with rapid career progression into Senior Engineering or Operations Management roles.
  • Paid Time Off: Standard PTO policy plus standard paid company holidays.
