Job description

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Engineered Labor Standards (ELS) across various DC departments (Receiving, Picking, Packing, Shipping).
  • Conduct time and motion studies, work sampling, and root-cause analysis to ensure labor metrics remain fair, accurate, and highly competitive.
  • Manage and optimize the Labor Management System (LMS), ensuring accurate data flow and actionable reporting for DC leadership.
Process & Best Practice Optimization
  • Partner with DC Operations and Logistics managers to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, and implement Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Improve cost, service, capacity, and safety
  • Design and optimize facility layouts, racking configurations, and material handling equipment (MHE) integration using AutoCAD to maximize throughput and space utilization.
  • Develop and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and "Best Practices," ensuring they are effectively trained and adopted by floor associates.
  • Optimize inventory slotting strategies to reduce travel time and improve ergonomic safety for order selectors.
Analytics & Project Management
  • Monitor daily/weekly KPIs (units per hour, cost per unit, dock-to-stock time) and build visual dashboards to highlight performance trends.
  • Lead capital expenditure (CapEx) projects from justification and ROI analysis through to execution and post-launch auditing.

Working Conditions & Travel
  • Travel Up to 75%: Because our network is our backbone, this role requires regular travel to Orgill’s eight full-service distribution centers across North America (including locations in UT, WV, TX, ID, NY, MO, GA, and Canada). You will conduct on-site time studies, oversee CapEx project rollouts, and collaborate directly with local DC leadership.
  • Comfortable working in an active distribution center environment, which includes standing, walking long distances, and working around material handling equipment.
What You Bring (Qualifications)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-6+ years of applied Industrial Engineering experience, specifically within a high-volume Distribution Center, Warehouse, or Logistics environment.
  • Technical Skills:
  • High proficiency in AutoCAD for layout design and spatial analysis.
  • Strong experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Labor Management Systems (LMS).
  • Advanced data analysis skills (Excel, SQL, or BI tools like Tableau/PowerBI).
  • Continuous Improvement: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly preferred. Experience with MOST or MTM is a strong plus.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and change management skills. You must be just as comfortable presenting ROI to executives as you are explaining process changes to frontline associates on the warehouse floor.
