Job Description

The Industrial Engineer applies advanced engineering principles and continuous improvement methodologies to manufacturing and assembly operations, develops and standardizes processes, and drives measurable gains in efficiency, quality, and cost. The position also serves as a technical resource to internal business units, helping translate complex engineering concepts into clear, actionable information.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of complex and significant engineering projects from initiation through completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Use and apply advanced engineering principles within a specialized field to improve manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Identify and propose engineering projects that provide clear value to the organization.
  • Utilize CAE tools such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Minitab, EES, CFD, and FEA to model, analyze, and optimize products and processes.
  • Develop, document, and implement engineering standards, procedures, and best practices for manufacturing and industrial engineering activities.
  • Provide expert guidance and technical advice on engineering issues to cross-functional teams and operations.
  • Conduct time studies and other industrial engineering analyses to improve workflow, labor utilization, and production efficiency.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives using industrial engineering and lean methodologies.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance product quality.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze cost data and budget reports, providing recommendations to optimize project and operational spending.
  • Effectively communicate technical material and project status to internal business units in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Leverage a strong understanding of internal processes and customers to support functional best practices and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure engineering solutions are practical, sustainable, and aligned with production capabilities.
  • Support assembly and consumer product operations by optimizing line layouts, workflows, and standard work.
Essential Skills
  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong industrial engineering with hands‑on experience in production or assembly operations.
  • Proficiency in industrial engineering tools and methods, including time studies and workflow analysis.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering and process improvement in a production setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex engineering projects from start to finish within time and budget constraints.
  • Proficiency with CAE tools such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Minitab, EES, CFD, and FEA.
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills for reviewing costs, evaluating data, and preparing budget and performance reports.
  • Ability to develop and implement engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of operational processes and customer requirements in a manufacturing context.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in consumer products and assembly operations is preferred.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma experience or certification is preferred.
  • Recognized expertise in supporting operations and contributing to functional best practices.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on data‑driven decision‑making.
Work Environment

This is a 6-month contract position within a manufacturing-focused environment that supports consumer products and assembly operations. The role involves close collaboration with operations and other internal business units, with frequent use of engineering and CAE tools such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Minitab, EES, CFD, and FEA. The work setting emphasizes continuous improvement, operational excellence, and adherence to established engineering standards and procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Appleton, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
