Job summary

A leading company is seeking an Industrial Electrician to install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with complex electrical systems, piping layout, and adhere to safety protocols. Responsibilities include ensuring equipment functionality and maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a production/manufacturing setting.
  • Fluent reading, writing, and communication in English.
  • Mathematical skills including probability, statistics, and geometry.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, or modify complex electrical systems.
  • Maintain and layout piping systems for pneumatic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment.

Job description

SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:

Installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment. Requires the use of appropriate shop/hand tools and analytical devices to inspect, test circuits, and wiring for safety and functionality.

ESSENTIAL/MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Industrial Electrician 65%

  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, or modify complex electrical systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers, roasting equipment controls, motor controls for ingredient feeders, and line equipment. Install and maintain conventional lighting systems.
  • Maintain Electrical Power Control Systems and other building electrical systems, including relay controls, programmable control systems for medium voltage transformers, and motor control centers.
  • Perform residential electrical requirements, including layout and routing design following N.E.C. standards.
  • Complete installation of rigid PVC or EMT conduit systems.

Pneumatic Piping Layout 10%

  • Maintain and layout piping systems for pneumatic equipment and air compressor systems. Cut, thread pipe, and make proper connections; install, repair, and replace valves and controls. Also, install and maintain soldered copper piping systems.

Line Mechanic 25%

  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment. Demonstrate knowledge of methods and skills in using equipment. Understand materials and tools for plumbing/pipefitting, installation, maintenance, and repair activities. Follow safety precautions and local codes. Read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manuals. Estimate time and materials, determine when repairs are not practical, and perform routine tasks and calculations.
  • Maintain personal tools and protective equipment.
  • Electronically fill out work orders to track maintenance, parts, and labor.
  • Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • Perform housekeeping and other duties as needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and enforce safety protocols. Keep equipment, tools, supplies, and inventory orderly and clean.
  • Follow OSHA safety rules, GMPs, and food safety laws and regulations.

· Identify and resolve problems promptly; analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions; work well in group problem-solving; use reason even with emotional topics.

· Pursue training and development to build knowledge and skills.

· Manage difficult customer situations; respond promptly; solicit feedback; respond to requests; meet commitments.

· Demonstrate accuracy; seek quality improvements; apply feedback; monitor work for quality.

· Meet productivity standards; complete work timely; strive to increase productivity; work quickly.

· Follow safety and security procedures; report unsafe conditions; use equipment properly.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the metric system, AC/DC control circuits, and ability to read electrical schematics. Basic math skills and experience with computer hardware.
  • Forklift operator certification.
  • GMP & Food safety awareness.
  • HACCP certification.
  • Tool maker skills are a plus.
  • Ability to operate a lathe and mill. Welding skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and CMMS software.

Education Requirements:

Electrical training or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.

Experience:

Minimum of two years of relevant experience in a production/manufacturing setting.

Other:

  • Standing for long periods (up to 4 hours), sitting, walking, and moving about.
  • Dexterity for operating machinery and computers.
  • Kneeling, bending, reaching, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs. in manufacturing and 20 lbs. in office settings.

  • Office and/or production/manufacturing environment.
  • Indoor and outdoor settings.
  • Must adhere to safety protocols.
