Job summary

Thompson Construction Group in Columbus, GA is seeking an Electrician Helper to plan and install wiring per blueprints, while ensuring safety and code compliance. You will assist with conduit work, wiring, and grounding, and help test and troubleshoot electrical systems across commercial projects.

The ideal candidate has electrical coursework or equivalent field experience, ability to read drawings, and the physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Completion of Construction Electrician Course or 1 year as Electrician Helper or 3 years in the field.
• State/local certifications may be required.
• Read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor and welder.
• Basic math, tape measure reading, volt/multimeter knowledge.
• Lift up to 50 pounds; climb, bend, twist, stand; work in varied environments.
• Drug test and background check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plan installations to minimize waste and ensure future access.
• Follow blueprints to install wiring before walls/ceilings/floors finish.
• Measure, cut, bend, thread conduit and assemble using hand tools.
• Pull wiring, splice, twist or solder, tape or cap wires.
• Connect wiring to lighting, motors, switches, relays and panels.
• Install control and distribution apparatus and grounding leads.
• Test circuit continuity for safety and compatibility.
• Observe equipment function and adjust as needed.
• Adhere to safety and code requirements; perform other duties as assigned.
