Job summary

Gerdau seeks an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to plan, lay out, and perform operations to install, troubleshoot, repair, and service highly complex equipment in support of steel production. Knowledge of electrical wiring, materials, and operation principles is required.

The role involves servicing electrical aspects of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems, plus interpreting schematics and providing technical assistance to maintenance and production staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Verifiable maintenance technical training.
• Understanding of shop mathematics with drawings, specs, charts and precision instruments.
• Experience in industrial maintenance environment.
• 3–5 years of heavy industrial electrical maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of AC/DC motor theory and PLC troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems.
• Perform rounds to identify abnormalities and ensure proper operation.
• Troubleshoot AC/DC motor controls, PLC, electrical drives, and high-voltage systems.
• Inspect and maintain shop machinery, HVAC, PLC networks, and cranes.
• Maintain records of work performed and materials used.
• Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
• Provide technical assistance to maintenance and production personnel.
