Job summary

KIK Consumer Products is seeking an Industrial Electrician (1st Shift) to support electrical systems across our manufacturing facility in Virginia. You will troubleshoot, repair, and improve electrical and control systems to maximize equipment reliability and safety.

The position offers a base hourly rate of $38.00–$40.00 with applicable shift differential, based on skills and experience, and requires 3+ years in industrial electrical work. Strong knowledge of NEC/OSHA, CMMS, and PLCs is needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED; technical or trade school certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair low- and high-voltage industrial electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair motors, drives, sensors, relays, PLCs, and 24VDC to 480VAC systems (Allen-Bradley; Siemens).
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and respond to electrical breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Interpret and modify electrical schematics and documentation, recording all changes.
• Plan and execute electrical projects with or without guidance from engineering or leadership.
• Size circuits and install conduit per NEC, OSHA, and local codes.
• Upgrade outdated electrical systems to improve safety and reliability.
• Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLC/HMI systems; convert relay-based to PLC controls where applicable.
• Document work orders and maintenance activities in CMMS.
• Collaborate with operations to improve uptime and efficiency.

Your Role at KIK

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician on 1 st Shift (6:00am - 4:30pm, Monday-Thursday with weekends per business need) to support electrical systems across our manufacturing facility. In this hands‑on role, you will serve as a subject matter expert for plant electrical systems, including production, packaging, and facility equipment. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical and control systems to maximize equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.

This position has a base hourly rate of $38.00–$40.00, plus applicable shift differential, based on skills and experience.

What You’ll Do

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair low- and high‑voltage (single and three-phase) industrial electrical and control systems across production lines and facility equipment (e.g., compressors, boilers, pumps, water systems, lighting)
• Diagnose and repair electrical and control issues including motors, drives, sensors, relays, PLCs, and 24VDC to 480AC systems (primarily Allen‑Bradley; some Siemens)
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and respond to electrical breakdowns with a sense of urgency to minimize downtime
• Interpret, modify, and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation, ensuring all changes are properly recorded
• Plan and execute electrical projects, including upgrades, installations, and improvements, with or without guidance from engineering or leadership
• Size circuits and install conduit in accordance with NEC, OSHA, and local electrical codes
• Upgrade outdated or unsafe electrical systems to improve safety, reliability, and standardization
• Support and standardize plant electrical components and controls, with a focus on Allen‑Bradley platforms
• Program, troubleshoot, and modify PLC and HMI systems, including conversion of relay‑based systems to PLC controls when applicable
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other testing equipment to identify root causes
• Document work orders, repairs, and preventative maintenance activities in the CMMS.
• Partner with operations and maintenance teams to improve uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency
• Follow all Health & Safety, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), GMP, PPE, and environmental requirements
• Serve as a key member of the plant emergency response team

What You’ll Bring

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred
• 3+ years of experience in industrial electrical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motors, drives, PLCs, and control systems
• Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs (MicroLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix) and HMI systems preferred
• Ability to read, interpret, and modify electrical prints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Hands‑on experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of NEC, OSHA standards, and electrical safety practices (including hazardous classifications such as Class I, Div. 1 preferred)
• Familiarity with cGMP or regulated manufacturing environments is a plus
• Experience using a CMMS for maintenance tracking and documentation
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment
• Effective communication and teamwork skills with a strong customer‑service mindset
• Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Ability to work any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) based on business needs, including overtime
• Frequent standing and walking for 8+ hours per shift in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and operate lifts or elevated platforms
• Must be able to reach confined or difficult‑to‑access areas and work around operating equipment
• Ability to lift 10–40 lbs regularly, and occasionally more with assistance
• Exposure to industrial conditions including noise, temperature variations, and chemicals, requiring proper PPE
