Job summary

OxyChem, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking an experienced electrician for our Wichita, KS area manufacturing site. The role focuses on electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety and environmental standards to ensure reliable, high-quality production.

The ideal candidate has a Journeyman’s License and 5+ years in industrial electrical maintenance (or 3+ years with accredited training).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Journeyman’s License required.
• 5+ years electrical maintenance experience in manufacturing OR 3+ years with accredited electrical training program.
• Must understand National Electrical Code and be able to troubleshoot 120V AC controls, 480V, 13.8 kV switchgear.
• Strong safety awareness; ability to read and follow written instructions and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment at prescribed intervals.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems; consult with vendors when needed.
• Maintain and document Electrical department records, parts, and vendor resources.
• Utilize SAP for spares, history and scheduling; plan, schedule, execute and close work orders.
• Keep shop, tools and work area organized; maintain prints and files; continuously improve safety and quality practices.

Consult directly with vendors on problems for resolution, if necessary.Maintain, update, report, requisition, and document the Electrical department records and resources to assure availability and dependability of equipment, tools, spare parts, outside repairs, specifications, equipment history, vendor resources, and library resources.Write notifications on findings.Provide technical assistance to production and engineering groups on application of new and modification of electrical equipment.Utilize SAP for spares, history and scheduling. Be able to write, plan, schedule, execute and close work orders. Help maintain and update electronic files and hardcopy instrument files.Continuously improve by staying informed and educated on current safety, technical, and quality practices.Keep shop, tools and work area organized and clean. Maintain prints and files in proper place.Education Required:High School Diploma or GEDMust have Journeyman’s License5+ years of electrical maintenance experience working in manufacturing environment OR 3+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing environment with completion of an accredited electrical training program.Safety and Physical Requirements:High level of safety and environmental awarenessStrong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read/comprehend detailed written instructionsWorking knowledge of National Electrical CodeMust be proficient in troubleshooting 120 volt AC controls, 480V, 2400 v, 13.8 KV switchgearWorking knowledge of motor repair, inspection and troubleshooting motor control systemsWorking knowledge of the inspection and maintenance and troubleshooting of distribution and power transformersMust be proficient in troubleshooting using loop drawing, schematics, ladder logic, and P&I drawingsGood communication and interpersonal skillsMust be willing to work overtime to support a 24/7 manufacturing operationKnowledgeable with computers.Ability to read, write and speak in EnglishMust have a valid driver’s licensePhysical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator.
