Job summary

Nucor Houston facility seeks an experienced industrial electrical technician to install and modify electrical machinery and circuitry in an industrial setting. You will diagnose malfunctions, work with PLCs and automation controls, and ensure all components meet safety standards.

Responsibilities include maintaining production quality, managing high voltage panels, reading schematics, and collaborating with electrical engineers. A strong focus on safety and teamwork is required.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as an industrial electrical technician in a manufacturing facility.
• 3 years of experience programming PLCs.
• 3 years of experience with VFDs.

Job description

• Install and modify electrical machinery, equipment, and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants
• Must know 3-phase electrical; up to 480 volts or more.
• Able to work with variable drives, read electrical schematics, work on conventional gas ovens.
• Diagnose cause of electrical or machine malfunctions
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to solve developmental problems
• Working with programmable logic/automation controls.
• Ensure all electrical components adhere to standards
• Mechanical experience would be preferred; ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on presses, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Be able to manage electrical controls, circuits, high voltage distribution, panels and knows principles of operating cranes.
• Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Other duty as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3 years of experience as an industrial electrical technician in a manufacturing facility.
• 3 years of experience programming PLC’s.
• 3 years of experience with VFD.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, industrial maintenance or comparable degree.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics.
