Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

A strong team member will perform duties including but not limited to electrician and all aspects of mechanical maintenance. The role requires troubleshooting issues to ensure all electrical and mechanical components are in good working order throughout the plant.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
  • Electrical
    • Diagnose and repair parts on drives.
    • Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and air cylinders.
    • Work with PLCs and control circuits.
    • Install and align electrical motors.
    • Set up and troubleshoot A/C drives.
    • Perform basic electrical calculations.
    • Use test equipment (multimeters, megmeters, current generators, Hart communicator, etc.).
    • Fabricate and install conduit.
    • Soldering operations.
    • Maintain motor control circuits.
  • Mechanical
    • Disassemble and rebuild crushing, screening, and conveying equipment.
    • Read equipment manuals, parts lists, and blueprints.
    • Repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
    • Maintain variable speed drives and kiln instrumentation.
    • Perform preventive maintenance checks and report findings verbally and in writing.
    • Operate extended forklift, manlift, or maintenance machinery.
    • Initiate work orders and ensure inventory parts are charged from warehouse.
  • Training & Mentoring
    • Mentor B and C electricians.
    • Participate in vendor and company‑designated training.
    • Process knowledge of CMMS system to ensure accurate completion of work orders and checklists.
  • Safety
    • Comply with all company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations.
    • Complete and document workplace inspections in a timely manner.
    • Keep maintenance tools in good condition, repairing or replacing as necessary.
ATTRIBUTES
  • Industrial background with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic mathematical computation ability.
  • Observation skills to detect potential problems in the field.
  • Shift work capability, seven days a week, including holidays;
  • Telephone access and willingness to respond to callouts.
  • Self‑motivated with independent work ability.
  • Good safety decision‑making skills.
  • Tolerance for working outdoors in severe weather, high temperatures, noise, and dust.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, blueprints, mechanical drawings, safety rules, SOPs, and procedural manuals.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations relevant to the lime industry.
  • Qualified to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ambition to grow within Lhoist.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to work outdoors in severe weather, high temperatures, noise, and dust; access all plant locations and lift loads over 50pounds. May involve heights of up to 190ft, confined spaces, ladders, stairs, or tunnels. Prior experience operating heavy equipment is desired.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

5+years electrical experience with demonstrated safe work practices; basic electrical and safety knowledge required. Must pass an electrical assessment test and have a minimum of 200 logged hours under an electrician’s supervision.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Completion of an apprenticeship program, technical program, or equivalent industrial experience.
