Job description

Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc., makers of Yellawood brand Pressure Treated Pine, is seeking an Industrial Electrician. This position will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, routine, and non-routine repairs, and troubleshooting problems with machinery. This is a full-time position offering competitive pay and a full benefits package.

Responsibilities include:

1. Assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
2. Diagnosing malfunctioning systems and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
3. Connecting wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
4. Inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, ensuring compliance with codes.
5. Testing electrical systems and circuit continuity using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure system safety and compatibility.
6. Using various tools and equipment, including power construction equipment, measuring devices, and testing equipment like ammeters and test lamps.
7. Installing ground leads and connecting power cables to equipment, such as motors.
8. Repairing or replacing wiring, equipment, and fixtures with hand tools and power tools.
9. Working from ladders, man lifts, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring and equipment.
10. Troubleshooting electrical systems.
11. Determining the extent of corrective actions and required parts to fix malfunctions.
12. Reading and applying information from maintenance manuals, technical manuals, policies, and schematic diagrams.
13. Following company safety procedures.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience in reading/understanding electrical drawings, troubleshooting mechanical/electrical problems, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
