Job summary

North Coast Container in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Industrial Electrical Mechanic with hands-on troubleshooting skills to keep our steel drum production running smoothly. You will maintain, repair, and improve automated electrical systems and machinery while ensuring safety and uptime.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, experience with 480V systems, motor controls, VFDs, PLC I/O, and welding/fabrication.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing preferred).
  • 492: 480V/3-phase electrical systems, motor controls, VFDs, PLC I/O troubleshooting.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Technical diploma or Journeyman card or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Diagnose motors, motor controls, VFDs, PLC I/O issues.
  • Install, modify, and maintain control wiring and panels.
  • Read electrical schematics and CMMS documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement and safety initiatives.

  • What You'll Do
  • As an Industrial Electrical Mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving the equipment that powers our steel drum manufacturing operation.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480V
  • Diagnose issues involving:
    • Motors
    • Motor controls
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
    • PLC I/O systems
  • Install, modify, and maintain control wiring and electrical panels
  • Run conduit, pull wire, terminate connections, and build or modify electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot mechanical systems including:
    • Bearings
    • Gearboxes
    • Pneumatics
    • Hydraulics
  • Read, interpret, and update electrical schematics and control drawings
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime
  • Perform welding and fabrication as needed
  • Document maintenance activities using our CMMS system
  • Follow all safety procedures, including LOTO, Arc Flash, and NFPA 70E requirements
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and production performance

  • Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience (manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong experience with:
    • 480V / 3-phase electrical systems
    • Motor controls
    • VFDs
    • PLC I/O troubleshooting
  • Proven control wiring experience including:
    • Running conduit
    • Pulling wire
    • Terminating connections
    • Building or modifying panels
  • Ability to read and update electrical schematics
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Technical diploma, Journeyman card, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb, and work in confined spaces
  • Willingness to work 1st or 2nd shift and overtime as needed
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix troubleshooting
  • Ability to perform minor PLC programming edits
  • Robotics maintenance experience
  • Experience using predictive maintenance tools and technologies
  • NFPA 70E qualification
