Job summary

GreenWood, Inc. in Greer, SC is seeking an Industrial Electrical Journeyman for a Regular Full-Time, non-exempt role at the Mitsubishi site. Typical schedule is Monday–Thursday, 7:00am–5:30pm, with 40 hours and occasional overtime.

This position does not require travel and no per diem is offered. You will install, monitor and repair electrical systems, follow blueprints, run conduit, splice wiring, test circuits, and maintain equipment while adhering to safety policies and a safety-first

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least four years of combined training and experience in industrial electrical work.
  • Must distinguish colors (electrical).
  • Ability to perform calculations and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, layout, installs, and repairs wiring, conduit, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.
  • Follows sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using tools such as a hacksaw, pipe threader, rules, and conduit benders.
  • Pulls wiring through conduit.
  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads and connecting wires.
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.

GreenWood, Inc. is now actively recruiting applicants for our Industrial Electrical Journeyman position. We are looking for applicants who are interested in a Regular Full-Time, Non-Exempt position at the Mitsubishi site in Greer, SC. Employees normally work Monday through Thursday, 7:00am-5:30pm, 40 hours per week and occasional overtime as needed. We are currently looking for an applicant who is interested in a position without the need to travel. GreenWood does not offer per diem at this job site.
The Industrial Electrical Journeyman is responsible for installation, monitoring and repairing the electrical systems of the organization.

  • Plans, layout, installs, and repairs wiring, conduit, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment
  • Follows sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring
  • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit using such tools as a hacksaw, pipe threader, rules, and conduit benders

  • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps
  • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
  • Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit- breaker panels, and fastens in place with crews or bolts using hand or power tools
  • Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer and oscilloscope
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
  • Disassembles and repairs defective electrical equipment or systems
  • Loads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Maintains tools and equipment
  • Wears personal protective equipment and uses safety equipment as required
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules
  • Rates information using personal judgment or standards that can be measured or checked
  • Participates in daily toolbox talks
  • Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
  • Based on the nature of the essential functions associated with this role, GreenWood has designated this as a “safety-sensitive” position.
Position Responsibilities - Essential

Essential Skills And Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least Four years (4) combined training and experience in industrial electrical work
  • Must be able to distinguish colors (electrical)
  • Able to make and understand mathematical calculations
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and sense of urgency
  • Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work
  • Demonstrated ability to perform repetitive tasks with focus on quantity and quality
