Job summary

Reworld Waste in the United States seeks an Industrial Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and overhaul diesel/gas engines and heavy equipment to support facility operations.

You will work with equipment from Kenworth, Mack, Caterpillar, and others, perform diagnostics with engine test gear, and ensure safe, compliant operation while meeting maintenance priorities.

Qualifications

  • GED/HS Diploma or 3 years’ experience.
  • CDL Class A or B license is a plus but not required.
  • Minimum two years of mechanical trade school training and two years’ experience as a vehicle and heavy equipment mechanic.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace worn parts in braking, engine, fuel, powertrain, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair to ensure performance per specs.
  • Overhaul and test equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Prioritize and complete repairs tasks and projects.
  • Adjust, maintain, and repair subassemblies such as transmissions using tools, jacks, and cranes.
  • Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Diagnose faults using engine diagnostic equipment and calibration devices.
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members (plus).

About The Role

The Industrial Diesel Mechanic will diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul diesel/gasoline tractors/trucks, and other equipment such as front‑end loaders, excavators and other light‑ and heavy‑operating equipment in support of the Facility’s overall operations. Equipment manufacturers include Kenworth, Mack, John Doe, Caterpillar, etc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts to braking system, engines, fuel system, power train, electrical system and hydraulic system.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Overhaul and test equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Prioritizing and executing repairs tasks and projects.
  • Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies such as transmissions, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.
  • Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools is a plus.
Qualifications
  • GED/HS Diploma or 3 years’ experience.
  • Current valid CDL Class A or B license is a plus but not required.
  • Minimum two years of mechanical trade school training and two years’ experience as a vehicle and heavy equipment mechanic.
  • Must be able to operate mobile equipment such as front‑end loader and tractor/trailer for diagnostic purposes.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Qualify to wear a full‑face respirator.
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions.
Shift Work

Monday to Friday, 8‑hour days starting at 7 am.

In addition to salary, this role is eligible for benefits. The benefits would include medical, prescription drug, vision, and dental plans; 401(k) plan; paid parental leave; paid time off; and paid holidays.

Pay Transparency

The range below reflects Reworld’s reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $64,059.00 – $88,215.00. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2,080.
