Job summary

Amazon Robotics invites applications for the Robotics Industrial Engineer 2027 summer intern, spring co-op, and fall co-op roles at our Robotics Manufacturing and Technical Operations team in North Reading, MA, and Westborough, MA. Interns will design, test, and deliver robotics solutions, using CAD tools to create models that address space, ergonomics, and efficiency.

Responsibilities include design validation, technical reporting, and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical) or related field.
• Enrolled in a US-based academic program.
• Experience using CAD/Design tools to deliver high-quality models.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deliver solutions for robotics-focused projects (e.g., workflow, space utilization, ergonomics).
• Use CAD/design tools (AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, SketchUp, KeyShot, BIM360) to create high-quality models and designs meeting customer needs.
• Identify and communicate issues in design, development, and implementation of fulfillment-center technologies.
• Invent, develop, and refine solutions to meet customer, business, and scaling goals.
• Understand business impact of designs and justify design choices to meet performance targets.
• Prepare technical reports on processes and best practices.

Key job responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deliver solutions (e.g., workflow/process path layout, space utilization/efficiency, ergonomics, etc.).
• Use appropriate technologies (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, SketchUp, KeyShot, BIM360 etc.) to deliver high quality, operationally excellent models and design (e.g., safety, high quality, and performance) that meet the needs of the customer
• Identify and communicate any issues associated with the design, development, implementation, and optimization of fulfillment-center technologies or design solution
• Invent, develop, and refine solutions to ensure they are meeting customer, business, operational, technology, and team goals.
• Understand business impact of designs and show good judgement when making design suggestions, ensuring they meet performance and scaling targets
• Technical report writing of process and best practices

Basic Qualifications:

• Are 18 years of age or older
• Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical), Operations Research, or related fields
• Are enrolled in a academic program that is physically located in the United States
• Experience using one or more of the following technologies (e.g., AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SolidWorks, CREO, BIM360, SketchUp, KeyShot, etc.) to deliver high quality models and designs
• Knowledge of converting sub-system functional requirements into engineering requirements and component designs
• Knowledge of IE fundamentals (e.g., basic spatial layouts of processing lines, process paths, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing efforts, transportation and logistics, or fulfillment and distribution centers
• Experience communicating technical concepts and processes using clear, simple language and visuals
• Experience with material handling and processing
