Job description

The Industrial Design role at Embraer Executive Aviation focuses on developing design solutions for the interiors and exteriors of Embraer Executive Jets and other Embraer business units, within a collaborative product development environment. This position plays a key part in creating customer-focused experiences for short- and medium-term projects, while also shaping the company’s vision for the future of aviation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Product Design Development: Autonomously lead medium-complexity Industrial Design projects in an integrated product development environment for aircraft interiors and exterior design solutions. Research, conceptualize, develop and test ideas, turning them into innovative and competitive product solutions. Lead technical discussions and feasibility analysis with internal partners and vendors on all industrial design aspects.
  • Integrated Development: Facilitate collaboration and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure design concepts meet the requirements and objectives from different departments, leveraging insights from product strategy, engineering, maintainability, assembly, manufacturing, operations, and certification teams.
  • Design Process: Guarantee that our Embraer Design Process is followed and used as a guideline for day-to-day decision-making and ongoing progress, ensuring alignment with design leadership and project objectives.
  • Technology Development Vision: Research, develop, and illustrate real-life applications of cutting-edge technologies, ensuring Embraer maintains its position at the forefront of innovation in the industry.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that design concepts adhere to quality standards and regulations, conduct thorough reviews and evaluations with various hierarchy levels within the company to maintain the highest level of quality and compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the design process, implementing best practices and innovative methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Innovation and Creativity: Help leadership foster a culture of innovation and creativity within the design team, encouraging experimentation and exploration of new ideas and technologies to push the boundaries of design excellence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to gather feedback, address concerns, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives and customer expectations.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in design, continually enhancing skills and knowledge to remain at the forefront of the field.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education:
  • BS/BA Degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial Design.
  • Master’s degree in Transportation Design is desirable.
Experience:
  • 2 - 5 years of Industrial Design experience in various industry segments.
  • Aviation-related experience is preferred.
  • Experience in product development and/or transportation design.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Ability to solve problems through Design Thinking processes.
  • Familiar with recent AI tools and their fast evolution over the past two years.
  • Familiarity with essential design tools, including sketching, illustration, image editing, 3D modeling (NURBS), and prototyping with technologies such as 3D printers.
  • Desirable entry-level to intermediate experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Understanding of fundamental ergonomic principles.
  • Awareness of manufacturing techniques and Industry 4.0 advancements.
  • Strong customer orientation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to effectively present information and navigate a complex project environment through different hierarchy levels within the company.
  • Must possess good written and oral presentation skills and the ability to communicate ideas effectively to both customers and senior management.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills; ability to become involved in several projects in a fast-paced work environment.
Working Conditions/Environment/Special Requirements
  • Ability to work safely and professionally adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Employees will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations.
  • Travel might be required.
