Position Summary : This full-time, salaried position is based at our headquarters in Upper Marlboro, MD, and reports directly to the Production Manager. We seek a motivated individual who thrives in fast-paced environments and is eager to learn and contribute quickly. The right candidate will have a minimum of one year of professional experience in industrial design or a related field, with a strong emphasis on design execution and production. On rare occassions travel will be required to job sites within the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Key Responsibilities : Interpret and convert design drawings, 3D models, and artwork from our creative team into precise working drawings for production in our fabrication shop. Create detailed 3D models and clear build drawings to effectively communicate project requirements to our fabricators and installers. Generate CNC files for custom element fabrication, demonstrating hands-on operation of CNC machinery as needed. Collaborate closely with the Production Manager to lead a dedicated team of fabricators, ensuring the safe and efficient production of custom-built elements for a variety of events and installations. Maintain an organized and safe fabrication shop environment, overseeing tool organization and workspace cleanliness. Foster collaboration and open communication with artists, artisans, and team members to monitor project progress from concept through to installation. Desired Skills and Qualifications : Strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision in all aspects of work. Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, especially under tight deadlines. Eagerness to learn new software, tools, and techniques to enhance shop workflows and overall project outcomes - especially new CAM equipment! A collaborative mindset, willing to engage with other departments to streamline internal processes and improve efficiencies. Required Experience : Minimum of one year of experience in Industrial Design or a related field, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. Proficiency in 3D CAD software, particularly Fusion 360 and / or SketchUp. Solid understanding of materials and tools commonly used in fabrication settings. Experience with designing for CAM operations and a proven track record of running and maintaining CNC machinery. Physical ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs, and to perform tasks requiring walking, standing, bending, and reaching up to 25% of the time. Reliable transportation and possession of a valid U.S. driver’s license. Compensation and Benefits : Starting salary is competitive, beginning at $50,000 per year, with the potential for experienced candidates to earn up $70,000 annually. We offer a generous bonus structure, along with comprehensive benefits including Medical, Vision, Paid Time Off (PTO), and a 401k retirement plan.
