Job summary

Amazon is seeking an innovative Industrial Design Engineer to lead the design and deployment of material handling systems across multiple facilities. You will partner with engineering, operations, and vendors to tackle complex problems, write specs, and scale new technologies while managing large, high-visibility programs.

This role requires up to 50% travel and the flexibility to work from a corporate office when not traveling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk and critical path management.
• Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.
• Experience in Design/Innovation, R&D, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related work.
• Experience with Lean/Six Sigma or similar metrics to improve efficiency.
• Proven ability to deliver projects on time in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and customer-focused communication skills.
• Travel up to 50% nationwide; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate efforts to develop optimal solutions for sortation and transportation networks.
• Define ambiguous problems and develop technical specifications for equipment evaluation and deployment.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions quickly.
• Understand business and technical requirements across mechanical, electrical, and controls functions.
• Manage multiple projects while influencing and communicating with partners.
• Evaluate solutions balancing business value and technology risk.
• Support stakeholders with trade-off decisions considering goals, throughput, quality, and operability.
• Build relationships with FC leadership and operations teams across sites.
• Transform abstract ideas into clear technical documentation.
• Communicate vision, roadmap, and concrete technical solutions.
• Travel up to 50%.
