Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an Industrial Design Engineer to lead cross-functional design and deployment of material handling systems in world-class fulfillment centers. You will collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to define ambiguous problems, write specs, and scale new technologies across multiple sites.

The role involves multi-project leadership, data-driven decision making, and a focus on cost-effective, high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk and critical path management.
• Experience using MS Excel, MS Project, and CAD software.
• Experience in Design/Innovation, research & development, manufacturing, process, industrial engineering, or related work.
• Experience prioritizing and delivering projects on time in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong analytical, detail-oriented, and customer-focused communication abilities.
• Experience managing multiple projects across teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Use of data and metrics to back up assumptions and decisions.
• Lean Process Improvement, Six Sigma or related metrics to improve efficiency in logistics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate efforts to develop optimal solutions for the sortation and transportation network.
• Define ambiguous problem statements and develop equipment specifications.
• Collaborate with vendors to generate high-quality, cost-effective solutions quickly.
• Understand business and technical requirements across mechanical, electrical, and controls.
• Manage multiple projects while influencing and negotiating with partners.
• Evaluate solutions balancing business value and technology risk.
• Support trade-offs considering goals, throughput, quality, and maintainability.
• Identify standards and drive engineering changes across North America.
• Build relationships with FC leadership and site operations teams.
• Transform data into clear technical documentation.
• Communicate vision with a detailed roadmap and solutions.
