Job summary

Palmetto State Armory in West Columbia, SC is seeking a facilities/maintenance associate to keep the manufacturing environment clean, safe, and orderly. The role covers floor cleaning, waste disposal, and light repairs in production areas and warehouses.

You will operate pallet jacks and related equipment, follow OSHA PPE guidelines, and support exterior grounds as needed. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and hold a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and orderly industrial work environment.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, paint and vacuum floors in production areas and warehouses.
• Manage waste including hazardous materials.
• Operate pallet jack, forklift floor scrubbers, polishers, and power washers.
• Ensure security and respond to spills per OSHA procedures.
• Perform light maintenance such as replacing bulbs.
• Assist with exterior housekeeping and grounds cleaning.
• All other duties as assigned.

JOB PURPOSE

This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly Industrial work environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facility Cleaning: Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, painting and vacuuming floors in production areas, warehouses.
• Waste Management: Gathering, emptying, and disposing of trash and hazardous waste materials.
• Industrial Maintenance: Operating heavy-duty equipment i.e. pallet jack, forklift floor scrubbers, polishers, and power washers.
• Safety & Security: Ensuring all areas are secure (locking doors), respond to spills, and follow OSHA safety procedures.
• Minor Repairs: Performing light maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs or repairing minor structural items.
• Exterior Housekeeping/Maintenance: Assisting with snow removal or cleaning grounds.
• All other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
• Safety Training: Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Communication: Ability to read instructions, report maintenance needs, and communicate with management.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
• Must have a driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of pallet jack and/or forklift certified a plus
• Ability to operate Zamboni

WORKING CONDITIONS

The job requires a person to work in conditions that include seasonal heat and cold; a high noise level, wearing required PPE were needed; heights; and dealing with chemicals.

Settings: Manufacturing floors, factory, warehouses, or large distribution centers.

Conditions: Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures may occur.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Team members are constantly standing, walking, carrying, pulling/pushing, bending, seeing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, hearing, as well as operating machinery. Team members will be lifting/maneuvering objects weighing 50 lbs. or less regularly . Cleaning materials and chemicals used regularly.
