Job summary

Kairos Power, headquartered in Alameda, CA, seeks a Software Engineer to join the Cyber-Physical Systems team within Instrumentation, Controls, & Electrical. You will build software that connects applications, data systems, SCADA workflows, and physical infrastructure, supporting operations and test systems in advanced nuclear tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Software Eng, Electrical Eng, Controls Eng, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
• 2-4 years experience developing software applications, services, scripts, APIs, or data integrations.
• Ignition Perspective or similar SCADA/HMI platforms preferred but not required.
• PostgreSQL or SQL-based relational databases experience; non-relational DB is a plus.
• Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA/HMI, or control-system programming preferred but not required.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, deployment automation, and DevOps tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain software for test systems, industrial operations, SCADA workflows, data acquisition, and analysis.
• Develop operator and engineering tools using Ignition Perspective or similar SCADA/HMI platforms.
• Create and maintain PostgreSQL-backed applications, including schemas, queries, integrations, and data quality improvements.
• Build APIs and integrations between software tools, databases, SCADA systems, PLCs, and plant data systems.
• Support software interfaces with PLC-controlled systems, including environments using Rockwell Studio 5000.
• Develop software that connects applications, data systems, and hardware systems.
• Support live applications used during industrial facility operations.
• Design and test tools or algorithms to identify trends, anomalies, or off-normal behavior.
• Improve software delivery through automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling, and documentation.
