Job summary

Xylem is seeking an Industrial Controls Field Service Technician to support municipal water treatment systems across the U.S. and Canada, installing, starting up, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment.

You'll work hands-on with PLCs, electrical systems, instrumentation, pumps, and SCADA, traveling to customer sites and delivering safe, effective service in field settings.

Qualifications

Experience servicing electrical, mechanical, and industrial control systems in municipal or industrial settings.
Strong PLC/HMI/SCADA knowledge and ability to read electrical drawings.
Familiarity with VFDs, control panels, wiring, and power distribution.

Responsibilities

Travel to customer sites to install, start-up, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain water treatment equipment.
Work with electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and control systems in field environments.
Collaborate with customers and internal teams to deliver safe, reliable project outcomes.
Provide training to customers and ensure adherence to safety policies.

Xylem is seeking an Industrial Controls Field Service Technician to support customers across the U.S. and Canada through the installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and service of advanced municipal water treatment systems.

This is a hands-on field service opportunity for a technician with experience in industrial controls, PLCs, electrical and mechanical systems, instrumentation, pumps, or commissioning. Experience in municipal water and wastewater is highly valued, but candidates with strong transferable experience in industrial, manufacturing, automation, controls, or electrical environments are encouraged to apply.

What Your Day Will Look Like as an Industrial Controls Field Service Technician

As an Industrial Controls Field Service Technician, you'll travel to customer sites to support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of municipal water treatment equipment and systems.

This role works with a variety of advanced mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems and requires a strong technical background, customer-focused communication, and the ability to work independently in the field.

You'll collaborate closely with customers, project teams, and internal support groups to help deliver safe and successful project outcomes.

A typical work week includes travel on Monday and Friday, with field service work performed Tuesday through Thursday at customer locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.

What We're Looking For

Experience servicing and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and industrial control systems in industrial, manufacturing, or municipal environments
Experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, VFDs, control panels, and industrial automation
Experience with low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment, VFDs, conduit, grounding, and three-phase electrical systems
Experience with electrical troubleshooting, control panel wiring, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis
Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, network troubleshooting, and control systems
Ability to read and interpret Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system layouts
Experience with instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, and temperature sensors
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
Ability to perform equipment startup, commissioning, functional testing, and preventative maintenance
Experience with pumps, pumping systems, instrumentation, or water/wastewater equipment is highly valued
Comfortable conducting customer training sessions and communicating technical information clearly
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently while managing multiple customer locations and priorities
Commitment to safety and adherence to Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) policies
Experience with ServiceMax is a plus
Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport for travel within the U.S. and Canada
