Job summary

Peak Group Companies in Layton, UT is seeking a Coating Applicator Apprentice to learn the industrial coatings trade through hands-on training and mentorship. You will support certified applicators with surface preparation, coating application, and equipment handling in a safety-conscious environment.

This entry-level role offers on-the-job training, growth toward CAS certification, and opportunities to advance to journeyman and certified roles based on performance and experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
• Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude and respectful communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in surface preparation activities including pressure washing, sanding, grinding, and masking.
• Support the setup and cleanup of coating equipment, hoses, and job site materials.
• Learn and assist in coating application processes using brush, roller, or spray equipment under supervision.
• Mix coatings and materials per specifications under the direction of experienced crew members.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear proper PPE, including respirators and fall protection.
• Help with environmental monitoring (e.g., dew point, temperature, humidity).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and toolbox talks.
• Show up on time, work hard, and demonstrate a willingness to learn the trade.
• Assist in completing daily production and safety logs as required
