Position Title: Industrial / Chemical Plant Construction Manager / Owners Rep

Location: Prefer on-site at Tampa Home Office, but the position involves travel and can be hybrid or remote with approval.

Job Summary: Join our growing team and support our mission to become a global leader in manufacturing innovation! We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong background in managing large-scale, new build construction projects within the defense industry. This position will collaborate with EPC firms to oversee and direct all field construction activities, typically valued at over $200M. The ideal candidate will oversee all project phases, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, industry standards, budget, and schedule. Knowledge of defense-related construction requirements, security protocols, safety standards for energetics/explosives, and coordination with military, government, and municipal agencies is essential. Chemical plant construction experience is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
  • Develop project plans including scope, schedule, budget, and resources.
  • Coordinate with EPC firms, general contractors, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure project requirements and deliverables are understood and met.
  • Manage timelines, milestones, and deliverables for on-time completion.
  • Subcontract Management:
    • Define requirements and develop statements of work in collaboration with supply chain.
    • Select and oversee GCs, A&E firms, and subcontractors.
    • Monitor subcontractors’ performance, schedule, and costs.
  • Budget Management:
    • Prepare and control project budgets, including estimates and financial reporting.
    • Implement cost-control measures to stay within budget.
  • Safety Compliance and Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure safety standards and quality controls are maintained.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Act as the primary contact for clients, military, and government agencies.
    • Provide regular updates on project status, risks, and issues.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and address issues during construction.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or related field.
    • Minimum 10 years in construction project management, with 5+ years in defense industry.
    • Proven success in managing large, high-security projects.
    • Knowledge of defense regulations, security protocols, and construction standards.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
    • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
    • Security clearance or eligibility is required.
    • Authorized to work in the U.S.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Advanced degree or PMP certification is a plus.

    Other Requirements:

    • Travel >50%, including international travel.
    • Work environment includes manufacturing sites, construction sites, and offices.
    • Background check, drug screening, and US Person status required.
