Location: Dallas, TXYou know the sound of a burner lighting off cleanly, the satisfaction of dialing in O2 trim, and the calm that comes when a rental unit comes online on a tight timeline. At Cleaver‑Brooks Sales & Service, you’ll apply your craft every day as an Industrial Boiler Controls Specialist supporting our Mobile Steam Services team. From our shop to customer sites, you’ll wire, fire, and validate performance on watertube and firetube equipment—ensuring our customers’ operations never skip a beat. What a typical week looks likeEarly in the week, you may be in the shop building and testing a control panel and fuel skid from an engineering schematic—verifying I/O, setting up transmitters, and confirming interlocks. Midweek could find you trimming out a firetube package, rebuilding a regulator, and assembling a condensate tank or deaerator. When a call comes in, you’ll head to the field to start up a rental boiler, read through prints, and set combustion—whether the unit is running pneumatic or electrical controls, with superheaters, desuperheaters, or economizers. You’ll determine the right valve trim, regulator springs, and oil gun dimensions to match the application, troubleshoot with or without a schematic, and train operators on safe, efficient control of their system. Throughout, you’ll maintain your tools and monitors, support cross‑functional projects, and keep an eye on cost, safety, and quality.Core responsibilitiesWire controls and motors for watertube and firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment.Rebuild control valves and regulators; determine correct trims and settings.Build and test control panels and fuel skids from engineering wiring schematics and layouts.Assemble and test condensate tanks and deaerators; trim out boiler packages.Start up rental (mobile) boilers in the field; set combustion on pneumatic and electrical systems.Read blueprints and wiring diagrams; troubleshoot with or without schematics.Train teammates and customers on boiler operation and controls.Maintain tool condition and inventory; support internal and external projects; follow company policies.Apply sound judgment, creativity, and adaptability to deliver results; other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.Experience: 3+ years of hands‑on boiler work involving PLCs, transformers, transmitters, and related controls. Also required:Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a safe driving record.Ability to read and work from blueprints and schematics; follow written and verbal instructions.Broad knowledge of boiler controls; strong mechanical and electrical foundation.Proven troubleshooting skills for boilers and auxiliary equipment.Ability to retrofit control systems in the field and diagnose issues without schematics.Physical demands and work environmentExpect stooping, climbing, bending, crawling, lifting up to 50 lbs, working in confined and elevated spaces, and prolonged standing.
