Job summary

SunSource is seeking an Automation Product Manager in Michigan to drive market penetration for automation product lines and achieve sales and margin goals. The role requires interfacing with suppliers, providing technical support to field Account Managers, and developing design and proposal material.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in automation or a related technical role, experience with automated manufacturing and motion control, and proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Word and MS Excel.

Qualifications

• BS in ME/IE/EE or equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years experience in a technical role for automation systems; distributor experience preferred.
• Experience with design, manufacture and integration of automated manufacturing, material handling, assembly and test equipment; motion control concepts.
• Ability to develop creative cost‑effective solutions to meet customer needs.
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel and AutoCAD; PLC Programming and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Interface and coordinate with suppliers.
• Strong understanding of Automation Controls & Software.
• Assess customer needs.
• Specify products.
• Prepare customer proposals, make customer presentations and quotations.
• Determine costs.
• Service customers via telephone.
• Service customers on site.
• Develop technical drawings.
• PLC/Software: Codesys Experience requested; I/O Link Experience requested; Manage products and supplier relationships; Evaluate industry trends and new technology.
