Job summary

Knobelsdorff (KE) is seeking an experienced hardware engineer to design and develop industrial automation hardware, schematics, and documentation for complex control systems. You will collaborate with software, controls, manufacturing, and field teams to ensure successful project execution and provide robust hardware solutions.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years designing industrial control panels and automation hardware.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of UL508A and electrical standards.
  • Experience with Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/Serial, Profibus, Profinet, ControlNet, DeviceNet.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop industrial automation hardware schematics meeting customer requirements.
  • Create hardware layouts, wiring drawings, and BOMs.
  • Collaborate with software, controls, manufacturing, and panel shop teams.
  • Develop hardware documentation and quality verification before production release.
  • Troubleshoot hardware issues during development, manufacturing, and startup.
  • Ensure compliance with UL508A and industry standards.
  • Support industrial networking and communication systems.
  • Research emerging automation technologies and best practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement of hardware design processes and tools.
  • Support startup and commissioning at customer sites.
