Job summary

Dolphin, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ seeks an Industrial Automation and Controls Technician to maintain and repair automated manufacturing machinery. You will work with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs, safety controllers, and VFDs, and support ABB IRC5 robotics.

The role requires an associate degree and 5 years in robotics/controls, strong problem-solving and teamwork, and is a full-time on-site position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Engineering or related technical certificate with 5 years in industrial robotics/controls.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with analytical and team skills.
  • Experience with HMI and control networks.
  • Experience with motor controls including VFDs and standard components.
  • Familiarity with RSLogix5000, FT View, and similar controls software.
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience with 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic drawings and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control issues on production machines.
  • Develop and install changes to machine control systems to improve performance.
  • Assist in setup and startup of new machines.
  • Provide control system support to production lines (auto, semi-auto, manual).
  • Perform preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities as assigned.
  • Assist maintenance technicians; train and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment; follow lockout/tagout and PPE rules.

Dolphin, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Automation and Controls Technician that has the knowledge and ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair automated manufacturing machinery. Has a strong knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC’s, various Safety Controllers, Scanners, ABB and Allen Bradley VFD’s.

Experience, Knowledge, Proficiency and Ability to Troubleshoot, Maintain, Manage\Edit\Create Programming with ABB\IRC5 6 axis Electric Robots would be Highly Desired.

SHIFT:

This is a full-time position (40 hours a week).
Monday-Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm

JOB DUTIES:
  • Read and understand electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic system prints/drawings and schematics
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control issues on various production machines, advise staff on any mechanical issues discovered to facilitate mechanical repairs.
  • Develop, design and install various changes to machine control systems as needed to improve operational performance or correct operational deficiencies.
  • Involvement in the setup and startup of new machines.
  • Provide control system support to production lines including automated, semi-automated and manual processes.
  • Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair various types of industrial machines.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities, as assigned.
  • Assist maintenance technicians with controls and electrical systems troubleshooting as necessary. Ability to train, coach and mentor less experienced technicians.
  • Continually maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follows safety procedures including lockout, Tag-out and adheres to proper PPE.
  • Full-time position requires regular and consistent attendance.
  • Must have own hand tools, multi-meter, amp probe, cart or toolbox.
  • This is a non-supervisory role; other duties may be assigned by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires an Associate's degree or certificate in Engineering from a properly accredited college/university or trade school, plus 5 years experience in Industrial Robotics and/or Automated Control systems; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication with analytical, interpersonal, and team skills.
  • Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, programming, and designing HMI and control network components.
  • Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying Motor Controls including motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives, DC drives, and standard electrical components.
  • Familiarity with programming software such as RSLogix5000 studio, FT View, and other controls software platforms.
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting, including 480V 3-phase, 110 VAC, and 24VDC systems.
  • Ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
  • Must have knowledge and the ability to use small hand tools.
  • Must possess an intermediate level of computer literacy, including MS Office: Outlook, TEAMS, Word and Excel.
