Job summary

The Wine Group in Ripon, California, is seeking a Refrigeration/HVAC Maintenance Technician 4 to ensure safe, reliable operation and preventive maintenance of ammonia refrigeration and HVAC systems essential to wine temperature control. Qualifications

• 4–5+ years of hands-on experience with industrial ammonia refrigeration systems (food/beverage/winery environments) and HVAC maintenance/expertise.
• Advanced knowledge of ammonia refrigeration principles, components, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with HVAC systems including chillers, air conditioning units, ventilation, and related utilities.
• Strong understanding of PSM/RMP programs, RETA standards, and ammonia operator certifications (preferred).
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training or associate degree preferred.
• Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook); CMMS experience a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and initiative in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial ammonia refrigeration systems for wine/juice temperature control, following PSM/RMP requirements.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control issues in ammonia and HVAC systems.
• Perform preventive/predictive maintenance and document logs, work orders, and regulatory reports.
• Train and mentor team members; supervise when needed and assign workload.
• Analyze data to identify inefficiencies and propose energy-saving improvements.
• Coordinate with management, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams; communicate technically and clearly.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, GMPs, OSHA/EPA regulations, and winery-specific protocols.
