Job summary

Rockwell Automation is seeking an AI engineer/scientist to help build the next generation of industrial agentic AI systems that transform how engineers design, operate, debug, and optimize automation systems.

You will sit at the intersection of large language models, autonomous agents, industrial control systems, and real-world operational intelligence. This role moves AI from a passive assistant to a collaborating partner in complex industrial settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
• Experience with Generative AI / LLMs.
• Background in agentic AI systems.
• Experience with reinforcement learning.
• Software engineering in Python and modern AI ecosystems.
• Familiarity with orchestration frameworks, tool-use architectures, memory systems, or autonomous AI workflows.
• Industrial AI or cyber-physical systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop agentic AI systems to assist with industrial software usage and workflow automation.
• Interact with engineering tools, automation platforms, digital twins, historians, and data sources.
• Design architectures combining LLMs, tool-using AI agents, memory systems, reinforcement learning, and multimodal reasoning.
• Enable AI systems to learn from real-world interactions and operator feedback.
• Collaborate with domain experts in automation, controls, robotics, and industrial operations to deploy AI in production environments.
