Job summary

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS seeks a dynamic fundraiser to join our development team as the Individual and Planned Giving Officer. You’ll manage a donor portfolio, build relationships, and grow the Colleen Dewhurst Legacy Society, reporting to the Senior Development Officer.

You will steward donors, draft letters and proposals, and collaborate with the team to strategize and expand giving programs, with a NYC hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of individual and/or planned giving fundraising experience.
• Proven track record of soliciting and securing gifts of $1,000+.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain and utilize database systems; Raiser’s Edge a plus.
• Proficiency with Google Drive and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Slack and Canva a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Personal drive, initiative and creative problem solving.
• Willingness to support fundraising events and team initiatives.
• Appreciation for theater and the performing arts.
• An affection for dogs.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 300 donors and prospects with capacity to give $1,000+ annually.
• Deepen donor connections to the mission and inform them about events and opportunities.
• Identify high-potential donors and craft personalized engagement strategies.
• Engage with donors in person, Zoom, phone and email to steward and solicit.
• Record notes and actions in Raiser's Edge/NXT accurately.
• Oversee donor acknowledgements and listings with the development analytics team.
• Draft solicitation and acknowledgement letters and occasional foundation proposals.
• Lead growth of the Colleen Dewhurst Legacy Society and planned giving stewardship program.
• Plan and execute stewardship events and donor recognition.
• Track realized planned gifts and stay current on related legislation and options.
• Coordinate with the team on donor stewardship events and invitations.
• Support Broadway Cares’ fundraising events and weekend activities.

Location: NYC Hybrid

This is a hybrid position that includes working from our Times Square office at least three days per week.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the philanthropic heart of Broadway, bringing together the theater community and its audiences to help people across the country receive lifesaving medications, healthcare, nutritious meals, counseling and emergency financial assistance.

Job Summary:

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS seeks a dynamic, relationship-driven and experienced fundraiser to join our development team as individual & planned giving officer. In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, build authentic relationships and create meaningful pathways for people to deepen their connection to Broadway Cares’ work. You’ll also manage our planned giving program, the Colleen Dewhurst Legacy Society. This position reports directly to the senior development officer and works closely with the director of development and the full individual giving team to strategize, implement and grow Broadway Cares’ individual and planned giving programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management & Donor Engagement

• Manage a portfolio of approximately 300 donors and prospects who give or have the capacity to give $1,000+ annually

• Ensure that donors and prospects in your portfolio deepen their connection to Broadway Cares’ overall mission, keeping them informed about Broadway Cares events and other volunteer and fundraising opportunities to increase their overall support and commitment

• Identify donors in your portfolio that have more potential to give and create a personalized engagement strategy

• Regularly connect with donors in person and via Zoom, phone and email to steward and solicit support

• Record notes and actions into Raiser’s Edge/NXT database, while ensuring accuracy of records and assisting with tracking success and challenges

• Work with the development analytics associate to oversee donor acknowledgements and listings for online and print publications

• Draft solicitation and acknowledgement letters, as well as occasional foundation grant proposals

Planned Giving Program Leadership

• Lead growth and management of the Colleen Dewhurst Legacy Society, Broadway Cares’ planned giving program

• Design and implement a planned giving stewardship and recruitment strategy with the communications team

• Plan and execute stewardship events and ensure donor recognition

• Track realized planned gifts and maintain expertise in legislation and financial options affecting planned giving

Events & Special Programs

• Work with the individual giving team to plan and execute donor stewardship events and oversee invitations to these events

• Participate with the full staff in facilitating Broadway Cares’ Red Buckets fundraising appeals on Broadway and Off-Broadway, which take place evenings and weekends for two six-week periods in the spring and fall

• Be available to participate in person at numerous evening and weekend events and meetings

The responsibilities listed above are not exhaustive and may evolve as the role develops. The individual in this position will also be expected to take on additional ad hoc tasks, responsibilities, and projects as assigned by the manager, adapting to the dynamic needs of the team and organization.

Compensation:

$65,000-$75,000

The salary range reflects the experience and responsibilities outlined in this job description. We welcome candidates with a range of backgrounds and experience levels.
