Job Description

Position Description:


Partner with independent agent channel to underwrite and support the sale of individual term and IUL insurance products. This position is responsible for underwriting insurance cases by using strong subject matter knowledge about company products and underwriting principles. This position works independently and influences others to achieve operational targets. A successful person in this role will utilize an understanding of medical terminology. Applying risk selection experiences to make accurate underwriting decisions will be key.



Position Location:


This position is remote and does not require regular in-office presence.



What you do:



  • Analyze and evaluate risk for insurance cases considering characteristics such as plan design, demographics, experience, financial and medical factors, and state and federal regulations.

  • Select and maintain cases to achieve revenue, persistency, and profitability goals for both top-line and bottom-line growth.

  • Based on financial, medical, and established departmental guidelines, create a competitive offer that is in the best interest of the company and the client.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of various insurance products, their features and limitations, and industry/regulatory terms.

  • Provide training and guidance to new or entry level associates.

  • Participate in post underwriting audits on products written through automatic issue electronic processes.

  • Utilize assigned tools including reinsurance partner underwriting manuals to drive decisions.

  • Utilize strong telephone skills speaking with agents to communicate underlying thought processes to help them understand ratings and pricing determinations.



What you bring:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • 3-5 years related life insurance underwriting experience required.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

  • Minimum $1M approval limit with review up to $2M desired.

  • Active pursuit of industry designations (LOMA or ALU) desired.

About this Position's Pay
The pay range posted reflects a nationwide minimum to maximum covering all potential locations where the position may be filled. The final determination on pay for any position will be based on multiple factors including role, career level, work location, skill set, and candidate level of experience to ensure pay equity within the organization. This position will be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits package (see above for details). This position will be eligible to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Plan with the annual target defined by the plan.
