Job summary

Airbus Americas, Inc. is seeking an Individual Aircraft Certification Engineer in Mobile, Alabama, to provide in-service airworthiness expertise and manage certification processes across deviations and issues affecting aircraft delivery.

The role requires coordinating with Airbus teams, authorities, and customers, and to sign the Aircraft Design Declaration ensuring compliance with EASA, FAA, and related authorities. Onsite work with potential global collaboration.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The Individual Aircraft Certification Engineer provides in-service vehicle airworthiness expertise and manages airworthiness approval in the domain of Structural and System repair solutions, in service vehicle Flight Conditions.

Your working environment

The Engineering Center in Mobile, Alabama houses hundreds of Airbus engineers who assist in the design and development of Airbus commercial aircraft cabins, including aftermarket upgrades, reconfigurations and services of all product types across the globe.

Your challenges

• Manage and monitor the global certification process for deviations and/or potential issues that would affect the individual aircraft prior to delivery, and initiates corrective actions as necessary.
• Coordinate with the Airbus and customer delivery teams, site and global certification personnel, design offices, and the relevant Aviation Authorities for preparation of necessary justifications and documentation to support the aircraft certification.
• Coordinate the application and issuance of the individual aircraft Certificate of Airworthiness (i.e. FAA Form 8100-2) for the relevant Aviation Authority.
• Monitor for applicable regulatory requirement changes and/or additions that may affect the airworthiness status of each individual aircraft prior to delivery.
• Develop, establish, and maintain certification management tools to include certification program plans, data requirement matrixes, action item matrixes and risk matrixes.
• Coordinate any exemption, waiver, and/or derogation requests with EASA and the registration country Aviation Authority.
• When requested by the Customer (RFC) or by the relevant Aviation Authority, establish compliance status with design and/or operational requirements (i.e. FAR 121 & FAA Type Design).
• Sign and release the Aircraft Design Declaration (ADD) attesting compliance with the following: 1) EASA type design, 2) the importing Regulatory Authority (ex. FAA) type design per the relevant Type Certificate Data Sheet, 3) all changes in addition to the type design have been approved, 4) all concession with the suffix R have been reviewed for Airworthiness Certification impacts per EASA CS 25 and FAR part 25, and 5) research and validate any differences in Type Design and the aircraft configuration.

Your boarding pass

• B.S. degree in engineering.(Mechanical /Aeronautic/Civil /Electrical Engineering)
• 13 years experience within the aviation industry, specifically in aircraft engineering and knowledge of associated design, certification and qualification requirements.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Ability to understand and mentor principles within assigned discipline.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical aircraft topics.
• Excellent communication, coordination, and organization skills.
• Ability to inter-relate with and motivate diverse teams.
• Authorized to work in the US.

Preferred experience in

• Airbus aircraft general knowledge.
• Delegated signatory.

• Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
• Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
• Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
• Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
• Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

• Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
