Job summary

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. seeks an experienced Utility Locator to cover territory in Glendale Heights, IL. You will adhere to 811 laws, read maps, operate locating equipment, and mark utilities accurately while documenting work via a mobile app.

We offer full-time employment, on-site work, and benefits including holidays, PTO, and comprehensive insurance. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a drug screen.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Willingness to pass a drug screen.
• Ability to work overtime and on-call as needed.
• Maintain a tobacco-free company vehicle and consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with 811 dig laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Accurately mark utilities using paint and flags.
• Document all work using a mobile app including photos and reports.
• Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
