Job summary

Northern Lights Locating & Inspection, Inc. is seeking an experienced Utility Locator to join our nationwide team. You will locate underground utilities in accordance with 811 laws, read maps and GIS data, and mark assets accurately using paint and flags.

This full-time role requires independent work, willingness to travel, overtime, and the ability to work in all weather. We provide competitive pay, holidays, PTO, and comprehensive insurance, along with modern locating technology.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of 811 laws and best locate practices.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, and GIS data.
• Experience with electronic locating tools and multiple methods.
• Document all work using mobile apps with photos and reports.
• Willingness to travel, work overtime, and endure all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground utilities in compliance with 811 laws.
• Read and interpret utility maps, as-built drawings, and GIS data.
• Use electronic locating equipment and multiple locating methods.
• Accurately mark utilities using paint and flags.
• Document all work using a mobile app including photos and reports.
• Investigate and document excavation-related utility damages.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.
