Job summary

Kako'o Services LLC is recruiting an Optometrist to deliver patient-centered eye care at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune and affiliated clinics. The role emphasizes professional judgment, accurate patient assessment, and services within licensed scope as an independent contractor (1099).

Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive examinations, documenting findings, coordinating with other clinicians, and ensuring adherence to DoD and facility policies.

Qualifications

• Degree: Doctor of Optometry.
• Education: Graduate from a school or college approved by the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education (ACOE).
• Experience: As required to meet clinical competency requirements.
• Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as an optometrist.
• NPI: Possess a current 10-digit National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Background/security: Be eligible to complete required background/security processing and provide the documentation required for placement.
• BLS and privileging: Meet applicable Basic Life Support (BLS), privileging, health screening, immunization, and facility training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide optometric patient care and examinations within the scope of professional training, licensure, and approved clinical privileges.
• Assess patients’ vision and ocular health, identify concerns requiring further evaluation, and determine appropriate follow-up or referral within the provider’s scope of practice.
• Document patient encounters, findings, and treatment or follow-up recommendations in accordance with facility procedures.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals as appropriate to support continuity of care.
• Follow Department of Defense and Naval Medical Center policies and patient-safety requirements.
• Provide services in the Ophthalmology Clinic Monday through Friday, 0700–1800, per assigned schedule.
