Job summary

Clairemont Canyons Academy in San Diego is seeking a Paraeducator- Independence Facilitator to support students in MPC settings, assist teachers, and help with instruction and behavior management.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED with CAPE or an Associate’s degree and one year of relevant experience; coursework in psychology or special education is desirable. Work is 10 months/35 hours per week, in person on-site.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED and CAPE passing score or an Associate’s degree or 48+ eligible college units.
• One year experience with severely, emotionally, mentally, and/or physically challenged children in an organized setting.
• Post high school courses in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assists individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning in classroom settings.
• Provides academic support, behavior intervention, and medical support to MPC students.
• Assists teachers with instruction and classroom management in both special education and general education settings.
