Job summary

San Diego Unified School District at Clairemont High School seeks a Paraeducator- Independence Facilitator to support medically and physically challenged students, assist teachers, and provide academic and behavior interventions in MPC settings.

The position is 10 months per year, 35 hours per week, in-person, with salary on the Paraeducator Salary Schedule, Grade 034. District-paid health benefits apply for >20 hours/week employees.

Qualifications

• Education and experience must be clearly represented in the application.
• High School diploma or GED and CAPE or an Associate’s degree or 48+ eligible college units are required.
• One year of experience working with severely, emotionally, mentally, and/or physically challenged children is required. Desirable: post-high school coursework in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning.
• Provide academic support, behavior intervention, and medical support in MPC settings.
• Assist teachers with instruction and classroom management in special and general education settings, including lunchrooms, play areas, distance learning, and field trips.
