Job summary

San Diego Unified School District at Wilson Middle School in San Diego, CA is seeking a Paraeducator- Independence Facilitator (Medically and Physically Challenged) to assist students with academic learning, behavioral support, and medical needs within both special and general education settings.

You will work 35 hours per week, 10 months per year, in person, with potential District-paid health benefits for eligible dependents.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED and CAPE exam or Associate degree or 48 eligible units.
• One year of experience with severely, emotionally, mentally, and/or physically challenged children.
• Post high school courses in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Special Education desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals or small groups of students to enhance learning including academic support, behavior intervention, and medical support in classroom settings including MPC settings.
• Assist teachers with instruction and classroom management in both special education and general education classrooms.
• Support students during lunchrooms, play environments, distance learning, and field trips.
