Job summary

The Prosper Valley School in Pomfret, Vermont is seeking a Full-Time Special Education Paraeducator to support Grades 5–6 students in developing academic, social, and daily living skills. Join a collaborative, inclusive learning community where every child is valued and supported.

You will work one-on-one and in small groups, assist with instruction and routines, and collaborate with a team of educators and therapists. Training is provided for behavior support and data collection.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Ability to support young learners with empathy, enthusiasm, and consistency.
• Comfort with basic technology; Google Workspace experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support students one-on-one and in small groups.
• Assist with classroom instruction, routines, and transitions.
• Participate in play-based and experiential learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with special educators, therapists, and general educators.
• Help foster communication, independence, and school readiness.
• Create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Supervise students across school settings and during community activities.
• Assist with behavior support plans and data collection (training provided).
• Share observations and feedback during team meetings.
