Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Lane 2 Child Care Assistant to support school-age children with and without disabilities, following inclusion plans and safety procedures. The role emphasizes leadership in group activities and collaboration with site leadership.

Responsibilities include implementing health and behavior plans, adapting activities for active participation, and collaborating with families and staff to provide a positive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate aptitude for working with school-age children.
• Education requirements include HS diploma plus training hours OR college credits OR ParaPro exam.
• Must have 6 months of consistent experience OR 1,040 hours of paid experience with children.

Responsibilities

• Implement site standard accommodations for all students.
• Follow health/safety plans and use adaptive equipment as needed.
• Support children in social interactions and behavior management.
• Lead activities and adapt them for active participation by all children.
• Attend staff meetings and required professional development.
• Greet children and families daily and provide excellent customer service.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

120 hours training in a child-related area

12 college credits in a child-related area

ParaPro/Paraeducator exam
