Job summary

Greenfield Central Schools is seeking a Functional Academic Instructional Assistant to support certified staff in a functional academic classroom setting at Greenfield Central Junior High. The role includes assisting with feeding and daily activities as needed and supporting students with instructional goals under supervision.

The position emphasizes collaboration, reliability, and the ability to work with diverse learners, including those with special needs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Ability to follow safety rules and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs.
• Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills according to individual student needs.
• Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance.
• Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist students with special needs in all aspects of classroom instruction to maximize inclusion, learning, achievement of IEP objectives, etc.
• Assist students with daily living activities for participation in school learning activities.
• Completes other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or building principal.
• Demonstrates willingness to grow professionally by participating in opportunities for development.
