Job Description
Summary

The Office of Inclusive Excellence (OIE) is seeking three students to serve as Inclusive Excellence Peer Educators for the 2026-2027 academic year. Inclusive Excellence Peer Educators are highly engaged student leaders who advance inclusive excellence through education, facilitated dialogue, and restorative practices. Working alongside the Inclusive Leadership and Learning Team, Peer Educators design and facilitate educational workshops, lead Dialogue Across Differences conversations, and support the Office's educational and community response initiatives. As members of the Inclusive Leadership and Learning Team, Peer Educators also support the Climate Action Response Team (CART) by facilitating structured dialogues, restorative circles, and other restorative practices, when appropriate and under professional staff guidance, to strengthen relationships, repair harm, and foster a more inclusive campus community.

Essential Functions
  1. Educational Programming & Facilitation: Facilitate educational workshops and presentations for students, student organizations, residence halls, and campus partners. Lead Dialogue Across Differences sessions that foster respectful engagement across diverse identities, experiences, and perspectives. Adapt facilitation techniques to meet the needs of various audiences and learning environments.

  2. Outreach & Relationship Building: Build relationships with students, student organizations, and campus partners to increase participation in Inclusive Excellence programming. Conduct outreach to promote educational opportunities and workshops. Serve as a visible representative of the Office of Inclusive Excellence and the Inclusive Leadership and Learning Team. Collaborate with Inclusive Excellence Ambassadors and campus partners to expand educational engagement.

  3. Assessment & Professional Development: Collect participant feedback and assist with program evaluation. Participate in debriefs and continuous improvement efforts following workshops and dialogue sessions. Complete ongoing professional development in facilitation, restorative practices, inclusive leadership, trauma-informed engagement, conflict navigation, and dialogue techniques. Attend regular team meetings, trainings, and planning sessions.

  4. Other Duties: Initial and ongoing training. Workshop preparation and curriculum review. Educational resource development. Outreach and relationship-building. Scheduling and coordination with campus partners. Team meetings and planning sessions. Facilitating workshops, presentations, dialogue sessions, and restorative circles. Supporting Climate Action Response Team initiatives and educational response efforts.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

Part-time. 5 - 15 hours per week. Salary Range: $18.40 per hour.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Previous facilitation or group leadership experience (e.g., Resident Assistant, Orientation Leader, Peer Mentor, Student Organization Officer, Teaching Assistant, Student Facilitator, or similar roles).
  • Strong public speaking, presentation, and group facilitation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and outreach skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to navigate complex conversations with empathy, professionalism, and sound judgment.
  • Interest in restorative practices, dialogue facilitation, conflict engagement, and community building.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to advancing inclusive excellence and fostering respectful engagement across the university community.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Inclusive Excellence Peer Educators are expected to work 5 - 15 hours per week, depending on programming needs throughout the academic year. The contract length will be from August 24, 2026 - May 7, 2027. Work schedules will vary throughout the semester based on programming, training, and campus events.
