Job summary

The YMCA is seeking an Adaptive Camp Leader in California to work with campers who have special needs and provide inclusion support in a traditional day camp. The role involves leading daily activities, ensuring safety, and modeling positive behavior while collaborating with families and staff.

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, September 21 to October 2, 2026, with potential extension. CPR/First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age and high school graduate.
• Experience working with children or in the special needs/health field.
• 1–2 years of experience with participants with special needs aged 5–17.

Responsibilities

• Work with a child with special needs to implement age-appropriate activities.
• Ensure safety and well-being of campers, including hygiene.
• Provide behavior management support and positive role modeling.
• Facilitate programming, games, crafts, and activities.
• Maintain communication with supervisor, staff, and parents.
• Follow YMCA standards and maintain participant documentation.
