Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA is seeking an Afterschool Inclusion Leader to assist in planning, supervising, and delivering an inclusive afterschool program for children with special needs in grades K-8. You will provide individual or small-group support, ensure safety, and promote positive participation within a nurturing YMCA environment.

Responsibilities include developing adaptive activities, maintaining participant records, and coordinating with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must possess 48 college units, an Associate’s Degree, or complete district paraeducator exam
• 1 year or more experience in a childcare setting
• 1+ year experience working with differently-abled participants with special needs
• Experience in behavior modification strategies and reinforcement systems desirable
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire
• Complete branch and position trainings within two weeks of hire
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance
• Negative TB test prior to first day of employment

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, supervision and facilitation of afterschool recreation program for K-8 students with special needs
• Provide one-on-one or small-group support to promote inclusion
• Ensure safety, health and well-being; assist with personal care as authorized
• Maintain progress notes and participant records in compliance with YMCA policies
• Collaborate with staff to create adaptive, inclusive learning environments
